DOUBLE-ENTRY BOOKKEEPING FOR CULTURAL ASSOCIATIONS –
BASIC KNOWLEDGE

When does it make sense to use double-entry bookkeeping, and what should be considered when doing so? How do I create an income statement and a balance sheet for my cultural association, and what are accruals and so-called transitory items all about? This course provides basic knowledge and practical tips on double-entry bookkeeping.

Regula Spirig has been working in the field of cultural management for around 12 years. She has gained valuable experience in fundraising, communication, strategy, and HR, among others, through her work with two nationwide Swiss associations focused on promoting young musical talent. Since 2021, she has been self-employed, supporting artists and their associations in production, communication, administration, and accounting. She has been with artFAQ since April 2022 and part of the co-leadership team since August 2022.

Matthias Kreinz is a graduate stage performer from the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen. He trained as a drama teacher in Vienna and was resident director at the Salzburg State Theater for over three years. He has been back in Zurich since 2022 and works as a performer, teacher and producer. He is Chief Financial Officer at Brücki 235 and a board member of tpunkt Zurich. In 2023, he founded his own association SoAlsOb for culture & facilitation. Before his artistic career, he worked in the fiduciary sector and enjoys passing on his knowledge of financial matters to artists.
